Nigeria's Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has filed an appeal against the Federal High Court's ruling that ordered the reinstatement of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. In the notice of appeal filed on July 14, 2025, Akpabio seeks to overturn the July 4 judgment delivered by Justice Binta Nyako, which declared her six-month suspension as excessive and a violation of her constituents' right to representation. Akpabio’s legal team is contesting the court's jurisdiction, claiming the matter falls under the internal affairs of the National Assembly, which is protected from judicial interference under Section 251 of the 1999 Constitution.
