In this video, Alex replaces our old, ugly Bilco cellar door with a brand new unit made by the same company. We opted for the more expensive version that came powder coated from the factory, both to save labor and also for a more quality paint job. Hopefully this one lasts another 30 years! Keep your eye out for a little sneak peak of an upcoming funny video on a minor thermal event that took place in our back yard..

Project Cost Breakdown:

Bilco Size B Door w/ gas springs & powder coat finish: $960
House wrap: $31
3" coated deck screws: $10
Tapcon screws: $21
2 tubes Sikaflex: $13.50
Aluminum trim coil: $13.50
Wood: $0 (leftover)
Siding: $0 (leftover)
Siding nails $0 (leftover)
Paint: $0 (leftover)

TOTAL: $1049

About Us: We are Alex and Elaina, a couple in our mid 20s who are currently living on the 3-acre farm in southern Pennsylvania where Alex grew up. We have a garden, backyard chickens, and build or fix anything that we need to. We still work corporate day jobs, but are working to eventually leave the 9-5 lifestyle in favor of a self-built, debt-free, homestead on 6 acres nearby.
Something that differentiates us from other channels is our transparency on the cost of our projects - there is usually a breakdown right in the description!

We upload a YouTube video every Saturday night at 7pm EST, and post daily on Instagram and Facebook @masondixonacres!
