The Essence is a Dutch alternative rock band, gothic rock and dark wave formed in 1984.The group is led by Hans Diener (vocals, guitar) and now completed by Mark Tan (bass) and George Tan (drums). Their sound is influenced by the British new wave music and post-punk.
