Sky News host Rowan Dean analyses the results of the federal election, arguing that Australia's "idiotic" compulsory preferential voting system has given Labor a "dangerous" amount of power.

“It was the perfect storm, a canny and cunning Labor party, an utterly inept opposition and the perversity of our idiotic compulsory preferential voting system,” Mr Dean said.

“Which together have left us with a hard left government that two-thirds of the population did not vote for, wielding an unbelievably dangerous level of power.

“With hard-left Labor holding a massive majority in the lower house and the Marxist Greens holding the balance of power in the Senate, Australia is now, to all intents and purposes, in the grips of socialism.”
