With a pioneering spirit and a clear vision in mind, our founders established the company in 1889 at a time when knowledge about the importance of hygiene and disinfection and how to use it was not widespread. Something that Rudolf Schülke & Julius Mayr wanted to change, with the first branded disinfectant Lysol*. Driven by their vision to protect people from infections, the company developed further innovative new products in the years that followed. From octenisept®, a novelty on the market for mucous membrane antiseptics, to desmanol® care, the first alcohol-based hand disinfectant with a skin-friendly care formula, to mikrozid® universal wipes green line, which are 100% plastic-free and produced in a climate-neutral way, as well as many other product developments.

The pioneering spirit of our founders and their vision are still part of our corporate DNA today and are firmly anchored in our mission "We protect life worldwide".
