This video illustrates the new log viewer interface included in the latest releases of the HPCC Systems Platform and the included user interface ECL Watch. Released with the cloud native HPCC Systems platform starting with version 8.6 and later version. The video depicts how to navigate to the topology section of ECL Watch and then on to the Logs tab along the top of the ECL Watch interface. The log viewer pulls the records from the back end log management tool configured in previous videos and steps.  (See our other videos in the Developer Videos: Logging series of videos for those configuration steps).  The log viewer provides a mechanism to filter The results based on a specified criteria. Then providing a closer look at some of the available criteria. Such as the Container Name, or class which would be categories such as information or error illustrating using an example of filtering for any reported errors.

Then it provides a look at the workunit filtering with an example of filtering for a specific workunit by entering the work unit ID that we're interested in filtering for in the job ID field. In that example the system provides us a list of every log entry referencing that particular work unit. We can further filter for a particular work unit and it returns a list of matching workunits.  The video then demonstrates how you can download that list as a CSV file with a handy utility built right into the interface. Then we review how to search the message field for a particular pattern or string and demonstrate using OUTPUT and how it also supports standard wild card usage to further filter the results.
