Why Does Every Ship FEAR This Passage? 😨 #shorts
There is an area south of South America and it's so dangerous that every ship fears passing
through it. This area is known as the Drake Passage, it spans roughly 620 miles. It was first
discovered in the 16th century by Francis Drake during his attempt to conquer the eastern coast
of South America. Later, he tried to conquer the West. During Drake's journey, a deadly
thunderstorm struck, this storm caused one of his ships to disappear in the Drake Passage.
When Drake tried to rescue the ship, he reached a corner of the passage. He encountered
towering waves 70 to 90 feet high and experienced weather conditions unlike any he had seen
in his entire life. Realizing the danger, he quickly turned his ships around and escaped the
dangerous waters. More than 400 years later, many ships still avoid and struggle to navigate
through the Drake Passage. To find out why make sure to check out our dedicated video on it.
