Steven Haworth Miller (born 1943) is an American musician. He is the founder and only remaining original member of the Steve Miller Band, which he established in 1966. Miller is the principal songwriter, lead singer, harmonica player, keyboardist, and one of the guitarists.
He inherited his musical talent from his parents and received encouragement from his godfather, the famous guitarist Les Paul. From a young age, he developed a deep understanding of blues and jazz through interactions with various musicians, which contributed to his strong business acumen in the music industry.
Starting with the 1968 release of "Children of the Future," Steve Miller Band explored psychedelic blues style and established itself within the San Francisco music scene. In the mid-1970s, they achieved commercial success with hits like "The Joker," "Fly Like an Eagle," and "Abracadabra," with "The Joker" notably reaching number one on the Billboard charts.
Miller has been married four times, and his current wife is Janice Ginsberg Miller. His ownership of the historic Lippincott-Wagner House and a 420-acre ranch in Williams, Oregon, is also an important part of his life. In 2015, this house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
