The hip check has been practised at hospitals here for decades. It's almost done like a military ceremony, with strict instructions how the baby should be presented for it's check! lol This hearing test however is far more recent, only been utilised for the past five or so years. It's quite a sophisticated test, it plays a low sound into one of the baby's ears and then monitors the resulting brainwaves for stimulus from the sound.
This was last full day at the Maternity Ward of the Palmerston North hospital. At this point we were starting to "get over it"!
