The sample CD "Bizarre Guitar" by Spectrasonics was released in 1998 and was used by Akira Yamaoka since his work on his Silent Hill 2 soundtracks. In my opinion the sounds from this CD laid the roots for the typical Silent Hill sound for the rest of the franchise. Of course the CD includes waaaay more samples, but these are the most iconic for the SH games. Of course there are way more sample CDs included in the soundtracks, like Big Fish Audio - Titanium Rhythms, AMG - 260db or Zero-G - Ghost in the Machine.
