Virtual Bird is a musical project created by Jane Reynolds,
in which she attempts to convey her reality as a trans person with schizophrenia.
Sometimes punk and angst ridden, sometimes spiritual and rhythmic.
Jane is an artist through and through, creating as often as possible and releasing her art into the world with a sense of urgency that comes with the knowledge that tomorrow is never promised.
She has live backup with the help of Nine providing backup vocals, Adam on bass, and Seaweed on drums.
If you want to put it in a genre-box™ this is what Jane has to say:
Jane: I guess I’d call it “Gothic Folk-Punk”. Buy Here
Lyrics:
Topping off the gas tank in my mind again
Serotonin dope i’m not
Make all my mistakes like im 10 again
Beggin for a meal outside a save a lot
Losing all my sleep in a paranoid binge
Lookin out my window to avoid the cops
Lackin the structure to begin again
Pretend that I’m a hero but I know i’m not
Waiting for the night to come and take me away
Giving in to what the voices say
If I can’t come back tonight maybe I’ll stay
You told me all along that we were not the same
Breaking off the pieces that react to pain
Seemed to be the pieces that still lacked restraint
Need a lot comfort to get back in my lane
But Im just not comfortable anyway
Losing all my sleep in a paranoid binge
Lookin out my window to avoid the cops
Lackin the structure to begin again
Pretend that I’m a hero but I know i’m not
Waiting for the night to come and take me away
Giving in to what the voices say
If I can’t come back tonight maybe I’ll stay
You told me all along that we were not the same
