My big brother was back from uni. He had a CD of some LTJ Bukem mix - "Listen," he said "You have to listen to this tune-" and he went ahead and played me Atlantis. It had already been out a couple of years then, but what did I know, I wasn't even old enough to legally get in raves. It made sense.
From then I started digging out all the Bukem tracks I could - learning about Adam F, Lucky Spin Records, Omni Trio, Alex Reece, all these producers taking jungle and turning it into this trippy future jazz - it sounded crazy then and still sounds like the future now. I used to walk three miles home from school (uphill!!) and save my bus fare for tunes, finding whatever I could on the cheap - a couple of those 12"s I still have, and some made it into this mix...
