Turkey Set to Take Control of Military Base in Chad After France’s Exit | Firstpost Africa | N18G

Türkiye is reportedly set to take control of a military base in Chad after the recent exit of French Troops from the Sahel country. Türkiye is allegedly getting control of the Abeche base in the eastern part of Chad. Reports suggest that in mid-January, an official agreement between Türkiye and Chad granted Ankara access. Türkiye has also deployed its drones near the Faya-Largeau Base in Chad’s north to contribute to the region’s stability. This comes as France loses its influence in the Central and West African regions. Türkiye is seeing this as an opportunity to fill the void that has been left behind by France.
