Can art transform how we experience public space? Last November, Olafur Eliasson's artwork, Lifeworld, took Times Square's iconic bright screens and blurred them for three minutes every night. The piece was on view from November 1st to 30th, 2024, and the artist came to Pioneer Works that month to discuss it with art historian Gloria Sutton. Together, they unravelled how power is ingrained in public spaces, exploring how architecture and digital technology can affect our relationships to ourselves and each other.

This program is presented by Pioneer Works, and made possible in collaboration with @wetransfer and CIRCA.
