This is the brand new Bogner Ecstasy Mini Amp Head, which we were lucky enough to get a very short preview and play of at 42 Gear Street Three!

You’ll all know the full-sized Bogner Ecstasy – it’s the one the likes of Steve Lukather have used to make dozens of hit records with – and now Bogner are following their Boutique Amps Distribution labelmates Friedman (who recently came out with the Friedman BE Mini) in creating one of their iconic amps in a mini format.

Get the Bogner Ecstasy Mini Amp Head here:

The Bogner Ecstasy Mini clocks in at €299 (or around $330 in North America), which is a fraction of what its full-sized big brother costs, but it packs a hefty amount of tone and features into its tiny enclosure. You only get one channel here, but it’s surprisingly versatile, and alongside the three-band EQ and Volume, Presence and Gain controls, you also have Variac (with boosts the gain and lowers the volume a bit – it’s an Eddie Van Halen thing!), Gain, Mid Frequency and Pre-EQ switches to further tweak your sounds to your liking. The Ecstasy Mini will do everything from pristine cleans to pretty modern and proggy metal tones, and I wish we’d had more time to show you them than we were allotted!

Power-wise, the Ecstasy Mini features a 30-watt Class D power amp when run at 16 ohms – so it should keep up with drummers if you’re lucky, and it’ll handle rehearsals and home playing no problem. It’s also ideal for recording, as you can plug it straight into your audio interface or mixer. The amp feels nice and solid too, quality-wise – it’s made in China, unlike the full-size Bogners, but of course if it was made in America it’d cost a good deal more.

I’m joined in the video by my good friend – and arch YouTube nemesis – Victor from ResQ Gear, and Henning pops in to show us a few tones and annoy us a bit too. Victor is playing a rather fine PJD Guitars Carey model, and please note that he’s using the Wampler Ethereal in the video – the Ecstasy Mini does not feature built-in reverb.

If you liked this video but want to hear more, let me know in the comments and I’ll push the guys at Bogner/Boutique Amp Distribution to send me one at home to do a full demo and review of it in peace.
