
Just an example of how I mix and you should vary this, to keep mixes fresh, plus find your own style. Hope this helps, watching others and then practising is how I found my own style. The more you practise the more polished and inventive things get.
I used the EQ knobs to adjust the balance of the frequencies of the tracks being played. They help to introduce the new track and adjust the frequency of the old track to make room in the soundscape for the new elements. DJ's you know this, but it can just look like we are twiddling knobs for the sake of it and pretending the mixer is on FIRE. Of course, some DJ's are doing nothing - but that's another story and there are many who FAKE IT.... but not me!
I always like to share information and be as transparent as possible - so thought I would explain a transition. This is just an example - I don't always do this and I mix it up on the techniques (I am self taught and this may not be text book information) Experiment, record your sets, see what sounds good and practice, practice, practice!! @djmumma x

What the main 3 EQ's do:
? High EQ – hi-hats. cymbals, vocals and synths.
? Mid EQ – lead instruments and some percussion, including piano, snare, lead synths etc.
? Low EQ – Mostly BASS - generally associated with sub basslines and kick drums.
