Earl Cunningham is such a quintessential Jamaican artist who, despite good quality releases, never got the wide recognition he deserved. His output was also far from prolific, only two albums are known, in addition to several singles. He was born October 22, 1959, in eastern Kingston, Jamaica. Inspired by the sounds of The Heptones and Dennis Brown, Earl set out to pursue a career in music. After an unlucky start with producer Roy Francis, he managed to make a name for himself in the tough Jamaican music business with releases for Dennis Brown, Jah Thomas, and Roy Cousins. His debut album was released in 1983, followed by the LP 'John Tom' in 1984. Still alive today, and since the mid-1980s he has lived in southern Florida, from where he only sporadically develops musical activities.
Delroy "Junior" Reid (born 6 June 1963) is a Jamaican reggae and dancehall deejay. From 1986 to 1988, he served as lead vocalist for the reggae band Black Uhuru on three albums: Brutal (1986), Positive (1987), and Black Uhuru Live in New York (1988). His solo career is extensive, and is widely regarded as a great of Dancehall Reggae. He is also known for his guest performances on the Game's 2006 single "It's Okay (One Blood)", as well as the remix of Mims' single, "This Is Why I'm Hot" alongside Baby Cham that same year.
The Roots Radics Band is a Jamaican reggae group / backing band, formed in 1978 by bass player Errol "Flabba" Holt, guitarist Eric "Bingy Bunny" Lamont and drummer Lincoln "Style" Scott.
They are known for having backed hundreds of reggae hits songs and reggae albums.
The nucleus of Holt and Lamont had previously worked together in the group The Morwells and in the backing band for Prince Far I called The Arabs. They were joined by many musicians, including guitarist Noel "Sowell" Bailey, Dwight Pinkney and Steve Golding, keyboard player Wycliffe "Steelie" Johnson, Pianist Gladstone "Gladdy" Anderson and saxophonist Headley Bennett. As a combined force the Roots Radics became a well-respected studio and stage band, which dominated the sound in the first half of the 1980s. In addition to their own catalogue, they have worked with artists such as Bunny Wailer, Gregory Isaacs, Michael Prophet, Eek-A-Mouse, Israel Vibration and Johnny Clarke and many, many others.
