Fresh Maggots - Spring
1971
Mick Burgoyne - guitar, vocals, percussions, violin
Leigh Dolphin - acoustic guitar, vocals
Having released only one album in 1971, Fresh Maggots is a band that, like so many other UK folk acts, came and went quickly. That is not to say that their music wasnt worthy of a long, fruitful career — quite the contrary, actually. The band is just two people 19 year olds Mick Burgoyne and Leigh Dolphin from Nuneaton, Warwickshire, England. Mick plays electric guitar with remarkable virtuosity and adds to their sound, glockenspiel, tambourine, violin and two tin whistles in harmony. Leigh contributes his considerable talent on acoustic guitar and writes the music to match Micks lyrics. Hazy, Arthurian, and undeniably mature for two teenagers.
