The FINAL STRETCH of my full Château de la Chevronnais tour takes us into all the nooks and crannies, and is filled with oohs, ahhhhs and wows as we explore the beautiful architecture, hidden spaces, and a few questionable design choices (a ‘spa’ next to the septic tank?!, ewwww 🤢).
🔎We start with the ground floor, encompassing the dining room, big & small salons and kitchen, all filled with potential. But sadly the beautiful, curved staircase with gorgeous stone details is tucked out of sight, and I realize… this might be a deal-breaker. Can I find a way to ‘open it up’ and make it the showstopper it deserves to be?
🍷Beneath the château, we step into the **domed brick CAVE (cellar) —ideal for wine storage but haunted by an ‘ill-placed’ spa right next to the septic tank. Yeah, that has to go! 🌿 The tour continues to the upstairs foyer which leads to an office with a breathtaking view from the Juliet balcony, perfect for that Matrimonial Money Shot!
The multiple bedrooms on either side need a major rethink and just as we start to map out possibilities, the storm outside takes a turn… and the power goes out! Oh boy. Thankfully, it's still daytime so there is some ambient light but the cameras are struggling for exposure. It is dark enough that Ralph has to pry open shutters and windows that haven’t seen daylight in decades, just to keep the tour going.
🚪As though through a magic portal a secret door appears. Behind it, a turned wood staircase leading to the attic or grenier in French… a massive space filled with limitless potential… if I can afford to bring it back to life that is.
And as the viewing comes to an end , one question still looms: 💰 Will my full-price offer be accepted? And if so am I prepared to go through with it?
