Phone anxiety is often associated with social anxiety. It can stem from a fear of being judged or criticised, a lack of confidence, negative past experiences, or the pressure to perform perfectly.
People with phone anxiety often do these things to cope:
Avoiding or delaying phone calls
Using other ways to communicate like messaging or emailing
Asking someone else to make the call
Writing down important points or a script before making a phone call
Checking who's calling before deciding to answer
Letting calls go to voicemail
