In this module, we discuss and demonstrate combinations of all of the previous fill subdivisions. The lessons in modules 1-3 were for the development of the physical movement of your body. This is key to breaking down the walls in each of the main subdivision groups. Now, in this "Fill Freedom" approach to playing fills and solos, we focus on combining the subdivisions and groupings together to create total "Freedom" of movement on the instrument. This module is focuses on going in and out of odd-note groups and creating interesting phrases and voicing on the drums. This single lesson can have one of the most dramatic effects on your playing. This module can be the key that opens up your "artistry" on the instrument.
Discussions include:
Combining multiple subdivisions in fills
Creating "open ended" fill concepts
Soloing freedom
Developing hand to foot, multi-subdivision fills
Complete "Freedom" of movement around the kit
Phrasing fills in odd-note groupings
