Mickie Most (real name: Michael Hayes) had recorded four singles with Alex Wharton under the name of The Most Brothers in 1957-68 in England. After that he moved from England to Johannesburg in 1958 to marry his South African fiancée Christina Frisco. He formed Mickie Most and his Playboys and become the pioneers of South African Rock'n Roll and scored 11 consecutive No 1 singles with covers of contemporary American songs. Jackie Frisco was a London born girl singer, who grew up in South Africa where she enjoyed considerable chart success. Gene Vincent, arrived in South Africa in 1961 to do a tour with Mickie Most and his Playboys. He met Jackie Frisco, Mickie’s sister-in-law, and they got married a few years after she had relocated to the UK in 1962. Mickie and Christine returned to England also in 1962.
After scoring only one minor hit with "Mr Porter" on Decca and three unsuccesful singles for Columbia, Most realised that he was unlikely to succeed. So he turned to other areas of the music industry and decided to start producing records.
