The U.S. House Oversight Committee held a hearing on Wednesday to discuss waste in the U.S. federal government. During the hearing, there was a heated exchange between Democrats and Republicans after Democrats moved to have billionaire Elon Musk testify before the committee. Republicans moved to table the motion without a debate.
Staffers of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) were instructed to stay out of the agency’s Washington headquarters on Monday after Elon Musk announced U.S. President Donald Trump had agreed with him to shut the agency.
The developments come as Musk is leading an extraordinary civilian review of the federal government with the Republican president’s agreement,
