Black voices from Bristol’s past is a short film by Sherrie Eugene-Hart. It details her response to hearing oral histories of Black Bristol. Recalling events from the 1940s to the 1970s, these reminiscences shine a unique light on Black Bristol experience; Sherrie’s film reflects on these experiences and how they resonate with her own.

The oral histories come from Bristol Archives and Bristol Libraries. They have been recently digitised as part of Unlocking Our Sound Heritage (UOSH), a British Library led UK wide project to preserve and increase access to rare, unique and at risk audio archives. Bristol Archives is the UOSH hub for South West England.
