Odd-note groupings can be very challenging, yet offer the most interesting possibilities on the drums. Even though Triplets (groups of 3 notes in one beat) are very common, they can be used to really add amazing colors to your playing. The basic note flow for so many styles of music from Swing to Shuffles and even Afro-Cuban and West African music, the command over Triplets (1/12th subdivisions) is extremely important. In fill lesson Module 3, I discuss and demonstrate applying Triplet figures in fills, and I provide exercises for developing the freedom to move around the drum kit in triplet flows. Also, I discuss how to apply triplet subdivisions phrased in even note groups. This module is a MUST and will have a huge effect on your fill and soloing ability.
