In 1986, 20-year-old Cara Knott vanished while driving home in San Diego. Her car was found abandoned near a freeway exit, but Cara wasn’t inside. The next morning, her body was discovered under a bridge. She’d been beaten and strangled.

The killer? California Highway Patrol officer Craig Peyer, the same man who went on camera days later, warning women about freeway safety… while still wearing the scratches Cara left behind.

Peyer had a disturbing history of pulling over young women at night, isolating them, and crossing lines. Cara didn’t survive.

He was convicted in 1988 and sentenced to 25 years to life. He’s never admitted what he did, but he’s up for parole again in 2027.

Should someone like that ever get another chance?
