Heard for the very first time on 15 December 1956 - “Elvis has left the building”! Elvis made his debut on the Louisiana Hayride on 16 October 1954. A very popular country music show on radio stations across the South and West. This gave Elvis his first exposure to wider audience.
It was after his final performance on 15 December 1956 when Hayride co-founder and announcer Horace Logan uttered those immortal words, “Elvis has left the building!”
People started to walk out after Elvis finished and Logan was encouraging them to stay and listen to acts still to come.
