California is a massive state. It is the third state in the USA by land area with around 424 thousand square kilometers after Alaska and Texas, but when it comes to population, California is by far the biggest with around 39.24 million people. This is more than states like Pennsylvania, Illinois and Ohio combined. But looking outside the United States, California has more people than countries like Canada or Australia.
