This beautiful BBC Scotland Film Unit documentary creates an impression in sound and picture of a day on the West Highland Railway. The West Highland line, which twists and turns its way from the Firth of Clyde to the coast of Inverness-shire, travels through country as grand, spectacular and wild as any in Europe.

Featuring some stunning black and white cinematography, and an inventive score by the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, this is a journey well worth taking.

Clip taken from West Highland: An Impression of a Day on the West Highland Railway, originally broadcast on BBC Television, 17 July, 1960.
