Anyone else sick of logging into Join My band, advertising using text only, regurgitating yourself for the 100th time because Join My Band doesn't allow you the ability to save a CV or even upload a picture of yourself on its out dated Windows '95 format? It makes Tinder seem like Wish.com, i certainly have a better success rate on Tinder than this steaming hot piece of shit website. It's 2022 and yet, despite of the technological advances, the communication between musicians in our local areas is truly dreadful. Join My Band is at fault here in my honest opinion, due to its lack of features, i swear the website hasn't changed a bit since i first signed my life away to it all the way back in 2010. That's 11 years ago! And I've only managed to find 2 half committed musicians on there who gave me a chance to create a band from scratch and work together as a unit and improve to the point where chemistry outweighs talent. Like Leicester City in the mid 2010's or Greece at Euro 2004; They didn't necessarily have incredible individual talent but they had a tight club team spirit and determination and pulled through to be winners. This is something that is lacking in grass roots music these days. Long gone, are the days of Creation Records, 4AD, Rough Trade, Factory, Mute, Postcard where the labels believed in people, rather than the quick cash grab. The trouble is, it isn't just the industry that's the problem, it's the people like you and me. We have grown up during the X Factor, Pop Idol, manufactured "perfect" squeaky clean, vocal ability - obsessed talent shows that rip people apart in the most brutal way in favour of some good looking person who wants to be a millionaire super star, and the only thing that matters is the looks and the voice.Judging a bad singer's voice is like writing off a great poet for bad handwriting. People have to realise that there are more elements to music that just a singer's voice, they may be a great songwriter who works around his/her flaws and works on their strength's instead. This has lead to a brainwashed generation that believes in instant success without the need to work towards it and the belief that only the voice matters in a song. Not the instruments, not the sonic landscape, not the songwriting, oh no...who cares?

Well people like me who believe in the DIY spirit of indie music DO CARE. James Hargreaves is another Youtube legend that thinks likewise and he has a fantastic couple of EP's that is set out to provide this generation with a much needed alternative to the mainstream nonsense that is being spoon fed to us by the big corporate industry on its own terms. Like fast food and social media, we are filling ourselves up with bullshit that doesn't speak for us, much like the governments of this world. THIS HAS TO CHANGE.

It's shocking that with in spite of all of the communicative opportunity available at our finger tips right now, forming bands and just getting your solo music out there to be appreciated seems to be harder than ever. Yes, there are more out lets with Soundcloud, Youtube, etc, but where are the people?

'Join My Band' NEED to update themselves and create a user interface that offers the opportunity to share photos, lyric sheets via PDF and also band/ artist profiles that can be re-used time and time again with every post, to tackle the frustrating issue with having to write out a new message every single time. People should only reply to posts if they will act upon it immediately, if not, it leaves the person who posted WAITING FOR A RESPONSE and they may never get another one. THIS WASTES TIME FOR THE PERSON WHO POSTED. And can deny them the opportunity to hire someone else who genuinely wants to join and will actually live up to their word and meet in person.
