The 120‐member committee is the principal policy‐making body for the Council, whose 235 members include most major Protestant and Orthodox de nominations throughout the world. The last meeting was in Canterbury, England, in August, 1969.
Seated on a red and gold throne at front of the cathedral was Emperor Haile Selassie, who was instrumental in bringing the Ethiopian Church into the Council when it was founded in 1948.
Later the Emperor delivered a formal welcoming address to the churchmen during the opening session at Africa Hall, the meeting place of the Organization of African Unity. He praised the Council for its “far‐sightedness” in the field of economic development but urged that such aid always be “free from any political motivation and from all ideological contamination.”
Now, Pato Banton makes this beautiful speech available to a new generation of Truth Seekers who are interested in understanding more Truth about His Imperial Majesty ~ Emperor Haile Selassie I
