Original song: The Pages In Between by SeelennachtI had to speed up a lot of this process because I spent 2 hours on this. I really didn't want to upload a 2 hour video. And most of it was me fumbling around with Bitwig Studio.
In this video, I'm recreating a song that already exists for the purpose of learning. I always tell everyone to try this out when they tell me that they are having troubles making something. When I first started learning FL Studio, I pulled in some songs that I liked, and just recreated them. If I didn't know how to make a certain sound, I just found something similar on YouTube to help me figure it out, and then kept going until the song was finished.
This video isn't really showing you how to do anything specific, just demonstrating how I would go about recreating something somebody has already made for the purpose of learning something new. No one can show you how to make a genre, it really comes from expanding on ideas that other people have done.
What did I learn while doing this? I learned a new musical scale, I learned that you don't always need the kick drum to not be repetitive, it can still sound good if it's not very complex. I learned a new synth technique, and I learned something new about Serum.
