Man or woman – there's nothing more! Or is there? The binary gender system has even become an election issue. Yet the idea of gender diversity isn't as new or "woke" as many assume. On the contrary, alternatives to the two-gender system have existed in many cultures around the world for centuries. Biological sex and social gender are not necessarily the same thing.
