I wrote this for the people I came up with, the ones I still love, even if they never left the cycle. I wasn’t deep in the streets, but I was right next to them. I saw brothers crash out, I saw hearts get hardened, and I touched fire myself. One of the people I cared for got killed, and the truth is, it wasn’t random. He kicked in a door and got shot. I cried. I grieved. But I never lied about what happened.
This song ain’t judgment. It’s not preaching. It’s grief with clear eyes.
It’s what it feels like to grow out of something that still owns a piece of you.
And even when I distance myself...
I still love you.
Thank you for listening.
