Did you know that there is a factory in China that can make fake stones that look so similar to real stones that it is difficult to tell the difference with the naked eye? The manufacturing process is quite interesting and full of techniques. First, they make silicone molds that are specially designed to mimic the texture of natural stone in detail. Then the natural color of the stone is simulated by spraying special paint directly onto the surface of the mold. A mixture of mortar and additives is then poured into the mold. To ensure that there are no air bubbles, the mixture is then compacted by vibration. To make it stronger and unbreakable, a fiberglass mesh is added inside. Once everything is dry, the flexible silicone mold is peeled off, revealing a very realistic surface that resembles real stone, complete with its natural color and texture.
