If you're flying with us to Grand Canyon West, keep an eye out for the striking ocotillo plant! Native to the Mojave, Sonoran, Chihuahuan, and Colorado deserts, ocotillo means “little torch” in Spanish—a name inspired by the bright red flower clusters that bloom at the tips of its stems. While they resemble cacti, ocotillo plants are actually succulents, storing water in their stems and sprouting fresh leaves after rainfall!
