On February 15, 2001, twelve-year-old Steven Kraft Jr. left his Benton Township, Michigan home with his two dogs. He told his mom he’d be back by 8 p.m., but he never returned. Hours later, the dogs came back one by one, cold and shaken. Steven was gone without a trace. His footprints led searchers near a church pond, but after that, the trail went cold.

Despite extensive searches by family, volunteers, police, and even the FBI, no sign of Steven was ever found. Suspicion later turned toward convicted child molester Michael Devlin, who had a history of abducting boys in nearby states. But investigators never uncovered any evidence linking him to Steven’s disappearance.

Decades later, Steven’s case remains unsolved. His parents both passed away in 2021, never knowing what happened to their son. His disappearance is one of Michigan’s most haunting cold cases, raising the question: did Steven meet a stranger that night, or is someone in Benton Township still keeping a dark secret?
