Applying a thunderous reinterpretation of Dark Monks' legendary 'Insane', the Dutch figurehead has crafted a dancefloor weapon full of pounding rhythms and hypnotic synth-scapes.
With Dark Monks' iconic single now some 20 years old, Hardwell wanted to rework the track to fit his signature mainstage sound whilst paying home to the euphoric melodies of the original. Retaining the recognizable sample utilized in James Reynolds, Jan Carbon's original, and with a chopped-up vocal structure, Hardwell injects a gutsy dose of driving basslines and industrial-strength kicks.
1990s electronic duo Jan Carbon and James Reynolds make up Dark Monks. Having both been involved in various other dance projects within the UK dance scene, the pair combined on Dark Monks with their debut 'Insane' via Incentive Records. Featuring a sample of Moby's dance-pop classic 'Go' from his 1992 self-titled album and vocals from newcomer Mim, the single would catapult them into the consciousness of clubbers in the UK and aboard.
