The Greer Lightspeed overdrive pedal has quietly become the first overdrive pedal I turn to in any situation. Greer Amps call it the Lightspeed Organic Overdrive, but many other people call it a transparent overdrive… which is kind of a buzzword, but it basically means this drive doesn’t alter the base tone of your guitar and amp too much.

Get the Greer Lightspeed here:

I love the fact that the Lightspeed is so simple and yet so versatile, and it sounds great with any guitar, amp or other FX pedal I throw at it. So, here’s my review and demo of it!

I ran the Lightspeed through my 2014 Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro guitar on humbucker and split coil mode, and I also threw together two loops where I tweak the three controls on the Lightspeed to really show you the full extent of the tones on offer.

Here’s the links to the various chapters and parts of the video:

My setup was as follows: I ran the Epiphone Les Paul into the Lightspeed pedal, into my Hughes & Kettner Black Spirit 200 head. That went from the Red Box DI straight into my Focusrite Scarlett 2i4, which went into Logic Pro X. That's it. No post-processing on the sounds was done. Oh, and for the loop part, I used my TC Electronic Ditto Looper.

Here’s some links to those bits of gear:

H&K Black Spirit 200 head:
Focusrite 4i4 (this is the newer equivalent of my 2i4, which they don’t make any more!):

Enjoy!
