Korean carrots that Koreans don't know about

The origin of Korean carrots is connected with the migration of Koreans living in the Russian Far East. In the 1930s, they were massively relocated to other regions, including Central Asia.
The dish was created as an alternative to kimchi by Soviet Koreans deported in 1937 from the border regions of the Far East to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The reason for its appearance was the lack of products for making Korean cold appetizers in their new places of residence.
The first mentions of Korean-style carrots appeared in the middle of the last century, when Korean emigrants began to actively adapt their recipes to the local culture. They used available products, substituting them for traditional Korean ingredients, such as Peking cabbage. Carrots became the main ingredient, and the addition of vinegar, garlic, sesame seeds and spices created a unique flavor.
