In Thailand it is easy to find wooden boats that have been converted into racing boats using car engines. They use a modified car engine connected to a single propeller shaft that can be steered by hand. It is not uncommon for them to add a turbo to the engine, resulting in speeds of more than 100km/h when crossing the river. In the beginning, this boat, commonly called a long tail boat, was only used for transportation or fishing in Thailand and only used a small engine. But now these traditional boats are more popular for high speed racing.
