Rockstar Games, the company behind Grand Theft Auto (GTA), has a big office in Bengaluru, India, called Rockstar India. Out of about 6,000 people working on GTA 6, more than 1,600 developers are from India. That means around one-third of the whole game is being made by Indian developers—more than any other Rockstar studio in the world.

Rockstar India is not just doing small tasks. They’re in charge of designing a full part of the game map called Vice Beach, which is a major area in GTA 6. This is a huge step up from their earlier work on games like GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2, where they mostly helped with support tasks.

This is also the first time all 10 Rockstar studios around the world are working together equally on one game. Earlier, most GTA games were mainly made by Rockstar North (in Scotland), but now it’s a team effort.

Some people online made rude or racist comments when they found out how many Indians were working on the game. But many others, including fans, defended the Indian team and pointed out their talent and hard work.

In short: India is playing a massive role in building GTA 6, and it shows how the gaming world is becoming more global and inclusive.
