Here’s a wild theory: Wade might be guarding the Master Emerald throughout Sonic the Hedgehog 3! Here’s why: typically, we’d expect Knuckles to guard the Emerald, but since it looks like Knuckles will be off with Sonic, Tails, and possibly even Tom and Maddie on a Chaos Emerald quest, the question is—who’s left to guard the Master Emerald? Wade is actually a solid candidate. He’s based in Green Hills, is close to the Wachowskis and Team Sonic, and, after the Knuckles show, he’s shown loyalty and even trained as an Echidna Warrior. Wade and Knuckles developed trust, beating back the Buyer together, and Wade never betrayed him even when his own family was at risk. Knuckles might trust Wade to guard the Emerald while they’re off on their quest, maybe even giving him some high-tech gear for extra protection. So, while Wade might have a small role in Sonic 3, him guarding the Master Emerald could explain why Team Sonic is comfortable leaving it behind.
