In 2013, a Florida man named Jeff Bush was asleep in his bedroom when a massive sinkhole suddenly opened beneath his bed, swallowing him and his entire room. Despite his brother Jeremy's brave attempt to rescue him, he was unable to reach Jeff in time. Jeremy had to be rescued by a police officer as he desperately tried to save his brother. Jeff's body was never recovered. The sinkhole itself was eventually filled in.
