BEHIND THE VIDEO:

“I always remember and cherish our Methodist Church memories at Papaloa, Sigamoga in the 1960’s/1970’s with the traditional nationwide Manuao choir all dressed up as shepherds, and singing angelically throughout the villages across Sinamoga, Alafua, Moamoa, Alamagoto, & Vaimoso.

Sinamoga/Alamagoto is also where Tavita So'onalole is from, he is buried there next to his family house.

Whilst families were still sleeping with their bellies full from traditional Christmas feast. We would go from hours as early as 1 AM and head home right before sunrise (6 AM).

My fathers was wholeheartedly dedicated to the manuao choir with his favorite song being ‘ALA MAI NEI’

The video is filmed throughout the early hours of the morning to really capture the essence of the Manuao and what it looks like during their hours of choiring. At the end it showcases the beautiful wave which are meant to be the sign of a new beautiful day.”
