Donna Summer was the undisputed disco queen. She was largely responsible for making disco hugely popular in the mid-70s. Donna Summer sold over 150 million records worldwide, won five Grammys, and was inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. Donna Summer is a music legend and her place in music history is definitely secure.

I always loved Donna Summer's "Hot Stuff." An incredibly well-produced pop/disco song, catchy and simply great. But I always heard it as a rock song, so I decided to record and produce an instrumental guitar cover.

My guitar cover is actually barely different from the original. The drums play an offbeat, the general tempo remains the same. The guitars serve the song, not harshly mixed into the foreground. What is different is the vocals. I replaced them with a guitar solo that imitates and recreates Donna Summer's vocals.

My guitar cover of Hot Stuff is a pop/rock song, with a lovely little improvised guitar solo in the middle of the song.

Donna Summer remains in music. She died of lung cancer in 2012, but her music is always there.

I dedicate this cover to Donna Summer.
