Some funky #syncopation in 7/8 time on drums! 👉 The kick and snare play a syncopated #funk groove in seven while the hi-hat carries straight sixteenth notes with open skanks on the downbeat of 1 and the upbeats of 4 and 5. Although in 4/4, this one is a bit reminiscent of the song "Sober" by the band TOOL.

ℹ︎ ODD METERS (as in strange ones) contain both simple and compound beats. In other words, the count is broken down into a combination of two(s) and three(s). They are often times referred to as complex or irregular meters, since there is no easy way to divide their sub-beats into equal groupings, resulting in an unsteady pulse.
