Camelus dromedarius, commonly known as the dromedary camel or Arabian camel, is distinguished by its single hump, which stores fat that can be converted to water and energy when food is scarce. These camels are incredibly well-adapted to desert environments, with long legs that keep their bodies away from the hot ground and thick eyelashes and ear hairs to protect them from sand.
They can drink up to 40 gallons of water in one go and can survive for weeks without water by reducing their water loss through sweat and urine.
Dromedary camels have been domesticated for over 3,000 years and are primarily used for transportation, milk, and meat in many arid regions.
Their incredible endurance allows them to travel long distances in extreme conditions, making them invaluable to the people who live in desert regions.
