This week's episode of Heroes Next Door takes us to Ada, Ohio, where Mike had the incredible opportunity to explore a 2020 Spartan Smeal equipped with a SAM AI control panel at the Liberty Fire Department. This impressive engine is 41 feet long, holds a massive 2500 gallons of water, and is designed for ease of use—even a new engineer can handle large incidents with confidence.
Liberty Fire Department truly understands its coverage area and takes pride in its unique engine, often referred to as a Pumper Tanker in other parts of the nation. During the visit, Mike managed to convince the team to pull the engine out and even flow some water, showcasing its capabilities. One of the standout features of this truck is the drop-down system for the porta tank, ladder, and other tools, making it highly functional and efficient.
If you ever find yourself in Ada, Ohio—home to Wilson Footballs and Northern Ohio University—be sure to stop by and say hi to the crew at Liberty Fire Department. They’d love to show you around!
