Drop the leading hand & look at the target - Your head is your steering wheel. Where you look you will go. The turn up towards the face is initiated with your head, and then your shoulders, arms and hips should follow, pointing in the direction you want to go.
Pressure on the back foot & body rotation - To start going up the wave, more weight should be on your back foot to help you turn. Decompress by slightly unbending your knees and straightening your upper body. Keep your head centred over your body. When you get to 3/4 of the wave’s height, you should already start to look where you want to go next.
Look down & body rotation - When reaching the top of the wave on the front side, drop your leading hand & start rotating towards the curl; hold the rail by pushing on your back foot.
Stay compressed - Keep your body compressed as you come back down the wave.
